n-Gauge 2 is aimed at manufacturing or production environments where its small footprint and ease of integration make it an ideal in-line tool for rapidly and accurately characterising coatings, membranes, or translucent films.

Unlike n-Gauge 1 which relies on an external microscope stage to provide any sample motion, n-Gauge 2’s laser is mounted on motorised stages so that multiple locations can be measured automatically during a single measurement cycle without the need to reposition the sample.  This is especially useful where the sample is very light or fragile, or includes a liquid which may become turbulent if disturbed.  It is also advantageous on high-throughput production lines, where quick, reliable, and repeatable measurements of samples’ parameters can be obtained in real time to evaluate product and process quality.

The n-Gauge 2 is identical to n-Gauge 1 in that it is exceptionally easy to operate, the only difference being that to reduce size and weight the n-Gauge 2 isn’t fitted with the colour video imaging system that n-Gauge 1 has.  To conduct a measurement the sample under test is placed in position and aligned by the user or autonomous positioning system.  The system is then configured either by adjusting a number of variables by selecting one of a number of pre-programmed measurement profiles.

A highly focused laser spot then directed on to the target area in the centre of the field of view and reflected laser light automatically analysed to produce a result which is presented to the user or integrated into a process control system via the on-board PLC interface.

n-Gauge 2 has been optimised for a range of sectors and modern industrial applications and can be configured to exactly match a client’s specific requirements.  As with n-Gauge, 1 the tool comes in 2 variants:

‘Turn Key’ System: Here n-Gauge 2 can be supplied as a stand alone, fully configured unit for seamless integration into a production or manufacturing line. This flexibility and ease of deployment make the device ideally suited for any industrial application, where accurate and rapid measurement would improve product yield and quality and reduce waste

Customisable Measurement System: In this configuration, n-Gauge 2’s hardware and software are made available for easy integration into existing metrology or sample positioning systems manufactured by select third parties for whom the addition of n-eos’ novel technology would open up new markets and opportunities. n-eos would work closely with partners to ensure its technology integrates seamlessly into suitable systems, and provide through-life support.
